I’ve avoided the whole News Corp. fiasco story. Don’t get me wrong, it’s interesting, but gallons of news print have been spilled already. Also, Tom and I are going to be covering it over at This Week in FCPA.
I just want to say one thing: I saw someone say that Murdoch’s shuttering of News of the World is good ethical leadership.
I completely disagree. It’s an example of crisis leadership. I’m not 100% convinced it’s ethical, what he did, shutting down a business almost 170 years old. But it’s all about crisis leadership.
Ethical leadership would have been if management had placed ethics above results back then. Catching up now is great and all, but let’s not remake history.
